Czech coalition leaders criticise Trump’s halt on Ukraine aid

Leaders of the Czech ruling coalition and the Pirate Party condemned US President Donald Trump’s decision to suspend military aid to Ukraine, calling it a betrayal of an ally and a concession to aggression. They emphasised that Europe must step up to ensure Ukraine’s security and its own. In a post on X, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said that the move shows the urgency of changing current European policy.

Deputy Prime Minister Vít Rakušan stated that Europe now bears the primary responsibility to prevent Russian advances. Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová called Trump’s decision a "dangerous capitulation". Other leaders echoed concerns that Europe must act independently to strengthen its defence and security.
