Czech drivers feel less safe on roads compared to European average, study finds

Czech drivers feel less safe on roads and highways in their own country than their European counterparts, according to a survey by the Transport Research Centre (CDV). Only 58.6% of Czech respondents rated highways as safe, compared to the European average of 66.1%. Local roads received the lowest safety rating, with just 34.3% of Czech drivers feeling safe, far below the European average of 51.4%. By contrast, pedestrians in Czechia view sidewalks as safer than the European average. Pavlína Skládaná from CDV noted that while pedestrians and cyclists in Czechia feel closer to the European safety norm, the country lags behind more developed nations.
