Covid cases dropping, but tests down by half

Laboratories in the Czech Republic registered 1088 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, which is the exact same number as was registered on Christmas Day a week ago. However the number of tests conducted was lower by a half on the first day of the New Year.

For the first time in two months the number of people hospitalized with Covid has dropped to below 3,000. The incidence number is now at 336 per 100,000 inhabitants.

However epidemiologists warn that the worst is not over and the country should brace for a new wave of Omicron infections in January.
