Coronavirus epidemic in Czechia continues rising trend
Thursday saw 191 new cases of COVID-19 detected in the Czech Republic, according to the data on the website of the Ministry of Health. This is an increase by 27 cases when compared with the same day last week.
The reproduction number – the average number of people infected by one person with the virus – lies at 1.1, indicating an accelerated spread of the virus. The seven-day incidence ratio remains at 12 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants.
Around 60 coronavirus patients currently require hospitalisation, with 17 in serious condition.
Meanwhile, close to 44,000 people received a coronavirus vaccine on Thursday, which is nearly 9,000 fewer than on the same day last week. In total, over 10,891 000 vaccine jabs have been administered since the start of the pandemic.
