Covid cases continue drop, down 16 pct on Wednesday
The number of new coronavirus cases in the Czech Republic continues to drop. On Wednesday, 2,483 new infections were registered, down 16 percent from the same day last week. The seven-day incidence is currently 146 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The reproduction number is currently at 0.88 and has been below 1.0 for 15 straight days. For the first time since mid-October, fewer than 3,000 patients were being treated for Covid-19 in Czech hospitals, Ministry of Health data show.
The greatest risk of infection is currently in the east Moravian region of Zlín, where the seven-day incidence is 332 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In contrast, the lowest incidence is found in the western Bohemian district of Cheb with 23 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
