Covid-19: reproduction and incidence numbers down
Some 237 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the Czech Republic on Tuesday, some 16 fewer than on the same day a week ago, according to Ministry of Health data.
The reproduction number – the average number of people infected by one person with the Covid-19 – remains below 1 for the 17th consecutive day, which signifies a slight slow-down in the spread of the virus. The seven-day incidence ratio has dropped to 10 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The greatest risk of infection is currently in the Pilsen region, where the seven-day incidence is 27 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In contrast, the lowest incidence is in the Zlín and Karlovy Vary regions.
Over 1.67 million people in the Czech Republic contracted the virus since the pandemic hit the country last March and 30,372 people died of Covid-19 related complications.
