Testing in schools and companies at least until end of May

Testing for Covid-19 in schools and companies will continue at least until the end of May, Health Minister Petr Arenberger said in a meeting with members of the health committee in the lower house on Wednesday.

The health minister did not rule out the possibility that testing might stretch out into June as well, if the epidemiological situation required it. He said respirators would remian in enclosed spaces throughout the summer.

Mr. Arenberger said the government’s aim was to push ahead with inoculation and open the registration to all over 16 at the beginning of July.

So far close to 2 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The government is to decide on Thursday whether shops will be allowed to reopen on May 3.
