90th edition of Jiráskův Hronov theatre festival kicks off
The 90th edition of the amateur theatre festival Jiráskův Hronov (Jirásek’s Hronov) gets underway in the Northeast Bohemian town on Friday.
The event, which is said to be one of Europe’s oldest theatre festivals, is named after Alois Jirásek, who was born in the town, and who is regarded as one of the greatest Czech novelists.
The programme of the week-long festival includes 47 theatrical productions from the Czech Republic, including experimental, student and puppet shows.
