One of the world’s foremost showcases of amateur theatre, the Jiráskův Hronov festival, kicked off its 95th edition on Saturday in the birthplace of writer Alois Jirásek in northeastern Bohemia. Founded in 1930, the festival is ranked among the seven most prestigious amateur theatre festivals globally. Running through August 9, the event will feature over 40 ensembles, including four professional performances for inspiration. The program also includes exhibitions, around 70 concerts, and additional open-air and children’s theatre productions.
