Jiráskův Hronov amateur theatre festival kicks off for 92nd time

The 92nd edition of the amateur theatre festival Jiráskův Hronov (Jirásek’s Hronov) gets underway in the Northeast Bohemian town on Friday.

The event, which is said to be one of Europe’s oldest theatre festivals, is named after the novelist Alois Jirásek, an important representative of Czech National revival, who was born in the town.

The programme of the week-long festival includes 37 theatrical productions from Czechia and abroad, including experimental, student and puppet shows.
