The prime ministers of Czechia, Poland and Slovakia have made a joint appeal for continued international support for Ukraine. In an article in Foreign Affairs they say it is clear who is the aggressor in this conflict. “If Russia wins and Ukraine falls central Europe may well be next. Peace can come only on Ukraine’s terms,” the prime ministers of the three central European countries say, adding that the international community must persevere since freezing conflicts is Russia’s favorite way of buying time in warfare.

Czech pharmacies are still short of antibiotics and other medicines, the ctk news agency reported. The reason for the shortage is problems in supply chains, but also a significantly higher incidence of bacterial and viral infections in the wake of the Covid pandemic.  During the winter months manufacturers supplied the Czech market with over 3.2 million packs of antibiotics and anti-viral drugs, which is a third more than in the previous season. According to pharmacists, the lack of some antibiotics led to the increase in the overall consumption of medicines, since patients received less suitable antibiotics for their illness and often had to be treated with antibiotics repeatedly.

Vietnam is in talks with Czech officials on delivering military supplies, including aircraft, radars, upgrades of armoured vehicles and firearms, a Czech government source told Reuters. Hanoi aims to  diversify its mostly Russian arsenal and Czechia is well-positioned to meet some of Vietnam's growing security needs as its military firms excel in retrofitting Russian gear and often manufacture new equipment that is compatible with Soviet legacy arms, Reuters says. Over the last two decades Prague has already positioned itself as the European Union's main supplier of weapons to Vietnam, according to data from the Stockholm think-tank SIPRI.
