Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (Motorists) says he has been invited to Monday’s meeting between President Petr Pavel and Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. Macinka told Czech Television on Sunday that he has not yet decided whether he will attend and wants to discuss it with Babiš. He did not say who invited him.
The meeting, announced by the presidential office earlier this week, is expected to focus on coordinating Czech foreign policy, particularly Pavel’s participation in the UN General Assembly in New York. The president is due to lead the Czech delegation, while Macinka is also scheduled to travel to the United States.
The meeting will follow a ceremony to retrieve the Czech Crown Jewels from St Vitus Cathedral, which both Pavel and Babiš are expected to attend as holders of keys to the chamber where the jewels are kept.

Industry Minister Karel Havlíček says the Czech government is ready to cap electricity prices for producers and suppliers if energy prices rise further. Speaking on CNN Prima News on Sunday, he said the government would take the step if prices continued to rise, but did not specify the level that would trigger the measure.
The government is also preparing measures to limit fuel prices and plans to coordinate its response with other V4 countries. Havlíček said Czechia would act immediately if fuel prices became significantly higher than in neighbouring countries.
Electricity prices are rising as energy markets react to the worsening situation in the Middle East. Wholesale gas prices in Europe have also risen above 80 euros per megawatt-hour, their highest level since 2022.

A rare fragment of the Gospel of Mark from Prague has gone on display in the northern Italian town of Aquileia, bringing together three surviving parts of a manuscript for the first time in seven centuries.
The fragment, considered the oldest manuscript held in Czech archives, left Czechia for the first time since 1354, when part of the text was brought to Prague by King Charles IV. The sixth-century manuscript was later divided between Prague, Venice and the nearby town of Cividale del Friuli.
The exhibition, titled “The Gospel of Mark. Seven Centuries. Three Fragments. One European Story,” runs in Aquileia until April 25. The Prague fragment will remain on display for six weeks to protect the roughly 1,500-year-old manuscript from damage.
