Imports of Russian oil from the Druzhba pipeline to Czechia rose slightly last year, Czech Television reports. The Russian share of total oil imports to Czechia was 58 percent, an increase of about two percentage points year-on-year. The rest was oil from the German IKL pipeline, which connects to the Italian TAL pipeline.

The Czech state oil company Mero is planning to expand the TAL pipeline, which should allow Czechia to become completely independent of Russian oil.

The parties making up the government coalition are concealing corruption and clientelism within their ranks and are trying to let all the scandals connected with them pass by in silence, says the leader of the opposition ANO party, Andrej Babiš. He accuses the government of being afraid of the public's reaction and feeling insecure about their hold on power. Mr. Babiš made the comments during his opening speech at a special parliamentary session on Thursday initiated by his party.

In response, prime minister Petr Fiala denied the allegations of corruption and said the real reason the ANO party leader had called the meeting was that he was angry at how the lower house had taken a stand against a leaked e-mail he had written, in which he had asked colleagues to dig up dirt on Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský.

The Czech government has adopted a working definition of anti-Roma racism. The cabinet said in a press release that the definition is not legally binding and is intended to help better capture and respond to specific forms of racism, prejudice, discrimination or hatred directed against Roma and Sinti.

According to the definition, anti-Roma racism is manifested through the actions and speech of individuals as well as through institutional policies and practices that disparage and devalue Romani cultures and lifestyles and exclude Romani people.

According to the Government Human Rights Commissioner Klára Šimáčková Laurenčíková, it is the right step to reject any prejudiced and stereotypical behaviour against the Romani minority in Czechia.
