New European political group to hold first meeting in Prague, says Macron
The French president, Emmanuel Macron, says that the first meeting of a proposed new European political group will take place in Prague in the coming weeks. Czechia currently holds the presidency of the EU.
Speaking on Monday, Mr. Macron said that the new group would regularly discuss security issues facing Europe.
The German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, said on a visit to Prague on Monday that he was also in favour of the creation of a “European political community”. He said the new forum could hold discussions once or twice a year.
