Nearly a hundred people evacuated in Brno due to tilted construction crane
Firefighters and police evacuated more than 90 people Saturday evening in Brno’s Žebětín district after a 30-meter construction crane near the Kamechy development was found dangerously tilted. Two apartment buildings were cleared, and a safety zone was established. Local authorities arranged 50 hotel rooms; 16 were used, while others stayed with relatives. An inclinometer was installed on the crane to monitor its movement, and responsibility for securing it now lies with the construction company. Public transport access to the area was maintained, but other traffic was blocked. The city also set up an evacuation center at the local municipal office.
