More Czech ski resorts open as full season kicks off

Several Czech ski resorts began their winter season this weekend, attracting thousands of visitors despite challenging weather conditions. Larger, higher-altitude resorts welcomed skiers, while smaller, lower-elevation areas await natural snow or colder weather for snowmaking. Notable openings included Dolní Morava, offering 4.5 km of slopes and extensive cross-country trails, and Špindlerův Mlýn in the Krkonoše Mountains, where 15 km of slopes drew nearly 4,000 skiers on Saturday. Resorts in Liberec, Jeseníky, and Šumava also reported strong attendance. Milder weather is forecast for the coming week, but colder temperatures and snowfall are expected to return by the weekend.
