Moravia tornado damage image wins Czech Press Photo main prize

The Czech Press Photo main prize has gone to photographer Petr Topič for an image from his “Destruction” series documenting the aftermath of a tornado that hit Moravia last June.

Topič’s photo featured a man standing in front of his house, which had been all but reduced to rubble.

More than 4,000 images taken by 250 photographers from the Czech Republic and Slovakia were submitted for consideration by an international jury.

An exhibition of Czech Press Photo 2021 winners from various categories will be on display at the National Museum from 21 January through May.
