Jewish heritage day opens synagogues and cemeteries across Czechia

Around 80 synagogues, cemeteries, and other Jewish heritage sites in 53 Czech towns are open to the public on Sunday as part of the eighth annual Jewish Heritage Day. Admission is free or voluntary, with many locations offering guided tours, exhibitions, concerts, and other events. The initiative, organized by the Prague Jewish Community and the Federation of Jewish Communities, focuses mainly on regional sites, with Prague’s only participating venue being the Jerusalem Synagogue. Last year, the event attracted about 10,000 visitors, highlighting ongoing efforts to preserve the roughly 200 surviving synagogues and 370 Jewish cemeteries in the country.
