Hospital bed capacity close to limit, says deputy health minister
Hospital bed capacity in the Czech Republic is close to its absolute limits, primarily due to a lack of personnel, Deputy Health Minister and hospital bed coordinator Vladimír Černý said at a press conference on Tuesday. This, he said, is leading to the delay of non-covid related care. The ministry is currently working on expanding the number of intensive care units in health facilities.
The lack of qualified personnel means that the ministry is not considering activating a field hospital in Brno, Mr. Černý said. Dozens of new intensive care beds are being set up in Prague at the moment, according to the deputy health minister.
