Foreign Ministry says no Czechs among victims of Morocco earthquake
The Czech Foreign Ministry has no information with regard to the possibility that Czechs may have been among the victims or injured in Friday’s 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Morocco. According to the latest figures released 1,000 people were killed in the quake and over 300 were injured.
According to the ministry’s travel registration system Drozd, some 81 Czechs are registered in the country and no one had reported anyone missing.
The powerful earthquake, which struck in the High Atlas Mountains at around 11 p.m. local time on Friday, some 70 kilometres south-west of Marrakesh at a depth of 18.5 kilometres, is said to be the strongest in a century in the country.
