The 71st ethnographic festival Chodské slavnosti in Domažlice continued on Saturday with a pilgrimage mass at Vavřineček Hill, celebrated by Plzeň Bishop Tomáš Holub together with Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, the bishop of Abuja, Nigeria. The weekend program features concerts by 44 Czech folk ensembles and bands with 570 performers, a national bagpipers’ show, traditional markets, fair attractions, and theatre performances. This year’s theme marks the 100th anniversary of the death of local writer Jindřich Šimon Baar. Organizers expect up to 80,000 visitors, with all events free of charge and supported by a new visual identity, mobile app, and updated website.
