Delays in digitalization of building permits began before current government took office

A draft audit of the digitalization of the Czech building permit process confirms the project was already delayed before the current government came to power. The Ministry for Regional Development initially lacked sufficient staff for the project during the tenure of former minister Klára Dostálová (ANO). Current minister Petr Kulhánek (STAN) said the system was rushed due to repeated changes in legislation, leading to flaws that hinder both officials and applicants. The problematic launch in July 2024 contributed to a government crisis, culminating in the Pirate Party leaving the ruling coalition. A fully functional version is now expected by 2028.
