Czech writers plan readings for Rushdie
A group of Czech writers plan to hold a relay of readings of texts by Salman Rushdie in Prague next Friday. The authors say the event, at Café Louvre, will be a declaration of support for freedom of thought and artistic creation.
The Czech writers taking part include Bianca Bellová, Michal Ajvaz and Petr Hruška.
Rushdie was forced into hiding after being threatened with murder by Iran’s top leader in 1988. He was seriously injured in a violent attack in the US last month.
