Czech women third at hockey worlds in historic success

Czechia have come third in the Women’s Ice Hockey World Championships in Denmark, winning a medal at a major tournament for the first time ever. The Czechs beat Switzerland 4:2 in the competition’s third-place decider on Sunday evening, with two of their goals coming from Natálie Mlýnková.

The Czech women’s previous best finish at the women’s World Championships was sixth and until last year they had never got past the quarter-finals.
