Czech PM holds talks with EC head Ursula von der Leyen
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has promised to help in the preparations for the Czech Presidency of the EU Council, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said after their meeting in Brussels on Thursday within the framework of the EC summit.
According to Mr Fiala, they also agreed that Europe must reduce its dependence on Russian gas in view of the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border.
Earlier on Thursday, the Czech Prime Minister also met with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, whom he invited to the Czech Republic. The two politicians discussed the importance of nuclear energy for the Czech Republic.
Austria plans to file a lawsuit with the Court of Justice of the European Union against the European Commission’s decision to temporarily classify nuclear energy and natural gas as green investments.
