Czech NGOs and volunteers join in humanitarian aid effort on Ukrainian border with Poland and Slovakia
An international aid effort is underway to help the tens of thousands of refugees fleeing from the war in Ukraine to find a safe haven in neighbor states. Long queues have been forming on the country’s border with Slovakia and Poland where Czech NGOs and individuals have been providing humanitarian aid distributing food and drinks to exhausted women children and offering to secure accommodation.
Many Czechs are setting out for the border in their own cars to help people in need and bus companies are organizing trips to towns inside Ukraine to help people who are unable to get to the border due to a lack of intercity transport in Ukraine.
A Czech train is waiting to pick up refugees on the border with Poland and another is being dispatched to the Ukrainian-Slovak border for the same purpose.
