Czech mountaineer dies in Italian Alps

A Czech mountaineer died while ascending the Ortles Mountain in South Tyrol, Italy on Sunday. The woman slipped at an altitude of 3,300 metres and fell to her death from a height of 100 metres, the Italian RaiNews channel has reported. All other members of her group are fine.

According to the rescuers, the woman didn’t have appropriate footwear and was not properly equipped for such a difficult climb. Another Czech climber died while ascending the same mountain in early July.
