Czech hockey team loses to USA after poor third period, now third in group

Czech hockey players lost to the USA 2:5 at the World Championship in Herning, Denmark, and suffered their first defeat. The reigning world champions will face the second team in Group A in the quarterfinals, which could be Sweden, Canada or Finland.

The Czech team managed to turn the last match in their group from 0:1 to 2:1 in the second period thanks to goals by David Pastrňák and Martin Nečas, but the Americans were in control in the third period. Switzerland won Group B, and the USA players finished in second place.
