Czech Foreign Minister to meet with his Greek counterpart in Prague

Czech Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček is due to meet with his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias, who is on a working visit to Prague on Friday. Among the themes on their agenda will be the strained relations between Greece and Turkey, the Covid-19 pandemic and the devastating fire in Greece’s largest migrant camp of Moria on the island of Lesbos.

The Czech Republic has released nearly CZK 2.6 million as urgent assistance to Greece to deal with the consequences of the devastating fire which had almost completely destroyed the facility, leaving nearly 13,000 people without shelter.

This year the Czech Republic has already provided assistance to Greece related to the Covid-19 pandemic in the amount of CZK 4.4 million, distributed through the MEDEVAC to refugee facilities. It has also provided material assistance in the amount of CZK 2.7 million through the Ministry of the Interior programme Aid in Place.
