Czech FM urges citizens to leave wildfire-hit southwest France

The Czech Foreign Ministry has strengthened its travel warning for southwest France, urging Czech citizens to leave the Gironde department as major wildfires continue to burn out of control. The ministry said the situation remains critical, with evacuations still underway, and advised people in the affected areas to follow instructions from French emergency services. More than 300 Czechs are currently registered in France through the Drozd travel system. Wildfires are also affecting Spain, Italy, Greece and parts of North Africa. French authorities have already evacuated at least 220,000 people from the Gironde region, with extreme heat expected to fuel further spread of the fires.
