Czech Airlines launches first wave of lay-offs

The flagship carrier Czech Airlines has started laying-off employees due to the coronavirus crisis. Over 140 pilots and cabin crew employees were handed their notice on Friday in what is merely the first wave of lay-offs.

Altogether Czech Airlines is planning to axe over 300 jobs between now and February 2021. As many as 126 pilots will be laid off due to the drop in air traffic.

Some have been given a choice between a two-month notice and a year’s unpaid leave when the management would reassess their position in the company.
