Company bankruptcies hit highest first-half level since 2017

Czech courts declared 418 company bankruptcies in the first half of this year, the highest number for the same period since 2017, according to an analysis by CRIF – Czech Credit Bureau. The figure is nine percent higher than a year ago, while the number of insolvency petitions rose by 22 percent to 678. Prague accounted for 44 percent of all company bankruptcies. The trade sector recorded the highest number of failed businesses, followed by manufacturing and construction. Over the past 12 months, transport and storage had the highest bankruptcy rate among all industries, CRIF said.
