A year at full tempo: Czechast revisits Jakub Hrůša

Jakub Hrůša

In a New Year’s Eve special edition, Czechast returns to a long conversation with Jakub Hrůša, one of today’s leading Czech conductors. Recorded in early 2025, the interview captures a moment just before his career reached new heights. It offers a thoughtful look at music, discipline, and a year that proved decisive for Jakub Hrůša.

As the year comes to an end, Czechast looks back at one of its most compelling conversations. In this New Year’s Eve best-of special, host Vít Pohanka revisits his in-depth interview with Jakub Hrůša, recorded in February 2025.

At the time, Hrůša was preparing to take over as Music Director of the Royal Opera House in London, after years leading orchestras in Zlín and Bamberg. Since then, he has received a state honour and was named future Chief Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic.

This episode captures Hrůša at a turning point — reflective, precise, and deeply committed to music.
