3,000 one-day Covid mark breached only day after number exceeds 2,000 for first time
Some 3,130 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in the Czech Republic on Thursday, only one day after the 2,000 mark was surpassed for the first time since the pandemic six and a half months ago. The figure for Thursday was similar to that for the whole of March.
There are now 20,289 active cases of coronavirus in the country, with 413 people in hospital.
Fresh measures aimed at containing the virus come in on Friday. Face masks are now compulsory in the classroom for those above fifth grade in schools and bars around the country must close at midnight.
