Young filmmakers head to Uničov for Mladá kamera festival, 43 films in competition

Uničov in the Olomouc Region will host the Mladá kamera (Young Camera) film festival this week, showcasing work by filmmakers under 30. Out of a record 215 submissions, 43 short films from eight countries—including the U.S., Australia, and Ukraine—were selected for competition. Screenings run Thursday to Saturday at the town’s cinema. The lineup includes fiction, animation, and documentary/experimental films, with themes such as loneliness, love, and identity. The jury features FAMU’s Martin Čihák, director Tomáš Hodan, and producer Kristina Husová. A side program includes workshops with sound designer Robert Slezák and discussions with participating filmmakers.
