WTA tennis tournament to return to Ostrava in February
A Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tournament will return to Ostrava next year after a four-year break, the WTA announced on Thursday. The event will take place in the Ostravar Arena and at the Ridera Tennis Club during the week starting February 2, on hard courts.
It will be the fourth WTA event hosted in Ostrava. The last edition in 2022 was won by Czech player Barbora Krejčíková, with previous titles claimed by Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus.
Held the week after the Australian Open, the tournament will feature singles and doubles matches. This time, it will have WTA 250 status, alongside the Livesport Prague Open as the Czech Republic’s second elite women’s event next year.
