Wednesday sees number of new COVID-19 cases fall

A total of 206 new coronavirus cases were detected in the Czech Republic on Wednesday, 13 fewer than on the same day last week, according to data from the Ministry of Health. However, the number of people who took the test fell by around 15 percent when compared to the previous Wednesday. This means that the ratio of infected grew.

The reproduction number fell from Wednesday’s 1.06 to 1.02 on Thursday, but it remains just above the acceleration rate cut-off line.

Among those infected, 60 patients required hospitalisation on Wednesday, with 13 of them being in serious condition. Six people have died from COVID-19 in Czechia over the past week.
