Wednesday saw half year low in new positive cases of COVID-19
Wednesday saw 2,392 people test positive for COVID-19, the lowest number of new coronavirus cases in half a year. Coronavirus related hospitalisations also fell down to 3,909, of which 862 people are in serious condition, according to data from the Ministry of Health. However, the reproduction number has been growing for three days, rising from Monday’s 0.73 to Thursday’s 0.85.
Vaccinations on Wednesday fell roughly by 10 percent when compared to the same day the previous week, reaching 58,637 jabs administered on April 22. Last week the daily vaccination rate was higher than 60,000 jabs every day.
