Vienna Symphony under Petr Popelka to perform at Prague Spring

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra, led by chief conductor Petr Popelka, will perform tonight at the Prague Spring festival in the Municipal House. The program includes works by Beethoven, Josef Strauss, and Richard Strauss. Pianist Jan Bartoš will be the soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 "Emperor". Petr Popelka, the orchestra’s first-ever Czech chief conductor, joined the ensemble in the 2024–2025 season. The concert opens with Beethoven’s overture The Consecration of the House and features Josef Strauss’s Dynamiden waltz and a suite from Richard Strauss’s opera Der Rosenkavalier. The Vienna Symphony is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
