US actor Johnny Depp arrives in Karlovy Vary

American actor Johnny Depp has arrived in Karlovy Vary. The 58-year-old Hollywood star is one of the main guests of the 55th edition of the International Film Festival, along with Sir Michael Cain and US actor Ethan Hawke.

Johnny Depp will present two of his recent recent films - Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan, a documentary about the Irish singer-songwriter that Depp produced, and Minamata, a new feature based on a true story in which he plays an American photographer documenting mercury poisoning in 1970s Japan.

The recognition of Mr. Depp, who was accused of abusing his ex-wife, has been criticized by a number of women’s advocacy groups, which argue that it is disrespectful to abuse survivors.
