Turek could face driving ban and prison if found guilty of crash

If Motorists party MP Filip Turek is found guilty of Monday's traffic accident in central Prague, he could face a driving ban of between six and 18 months, or even up to one year in prison. The outcome will depend primarily on the severity of the injuries sustained by the driver of the hospital vehicle that collided with Turek's car, lawyer Pavel Kiršner told the Czech News Agency (ČTK).

According to Roman Budský, a transport expert with the Vision Zero Platform and former head of the Czech road safety agency BESIP, police will investigate how the conduct of both drivers contributed to the accident.

According to a statement issued today by Martina Dostálová, spokesperson for Motol and Homolka University Hospitals, the driver of the hospital vehicle is currently on sick leave due to the incident.
