Thousands take part in traditional parade at Uherské Hradiště wine festival
Thousands of people in traditional folk costumes filled the centre of Uherské Hradiště in southeastern Moravia on Saturday for one of the highlights of the annual Slovácké Wine and Open Monuments Festival.
The more than two-kilometre parade featured folk groups singing, dancing and playing music, with some participants carrying wine, young wine and plum brandy. The festival, which runs from Friday to Sunday, attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year.
The festival also offers wine tastings, a market and performances by folk groups, cimbalom bands, brass bands and choirs. Visitors can also tour 22 monuments in the town, some of which are normally closed to the public. Most of the programme is free.
