Third round of blanket testing in schools

A third and final round of blanket testing took place at primary and secondary schools around the country on Thursday. The earlier tests conducted at the start of the month showed that school-goers account for around 30 percent of new cases. However the number of infected dropped among older children, as compared to June, which is attributed to the fact that many were inoculated in order to be able to travel abroad freely.

Experts have warned that the Delta mutation may be potentially more dangerous for children. Health Minister Adam Vojtěch said on Wednesday there would be no more blanket tests in schools for the time being. Respirators will remain compulsory in common spaces outside the classroom and teachers have been asked not to merge classes or organize mass events.
