The number of newly identified cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus in the Czech Republic rose by 59 on Sunday and 112 overall during the past weekend, according to Ministry of Health statistics. While the weekend saw a sharp decrease compared to the average daily rise by over 100 cases during the four days prior, it should be noted that fewer COVID-19 tests are taken during the weekend. The weekend also saw the districts of Jihlava and Kutná Hora reintroduce certain protective measures as a result of minor outbreaks in their surrounding area. The most serious COVID-19 hostspot remains the area around the town of Karviná in the Moravian-Silesian region.
