Study predicts up to 260,000 Ukrainian refugees could stay in Czechia long-term

An updated study by Boston Consulting Group and Aspen Institute Central Europe, prepared for the Ministry of Labour, estimates that around 260,000 Ukrainian refugees might remain in Czechia permanently. This would contribute to a projected total of 1.36 million foreigners living in the country by 2035. The report highlights the positive impact of refugee arrivals on the labour market, helping to ease worker shortages in sectors like construction, industry, and services. However, it also points to challenges, including language barriers and pressure on the social and healthcare systems. The future numbers will depend largely on developments in Ukraine.
