One of the Czech Republic's most successful skiers, Katerina Neumannova, says she plans to continue competing in the future despite the fact that she is expecting a baby this coming summer. Neumannova, who is 29, has won three Olympic medals including gold at both the Salt Lake City games in 2002 and the Nagano games in 1998. Earlier this week she said that she still plans to be involved with the Czech ski team throughout the coming season by helping out with training and sponsoring. There has been speculation that Ms. Neumannova would end her career this year, she says this was the case until she found out she was pregnant, something which has only made her more motivated to continue competing in the future. I spoke with Ms. Neumannova and asked her first how she felt when she found out that she was going to have a baby.

"I am really very happy and I think its much better then cross-country skiing and all the competitions, but I hope that I will come back and I will again be successful."

So you plan on competing again next year?

"I think that next winter is a little bit too early, I will start with the training next winter. But for the world championship in Oberstdorf and the Olympic games in Torino I hope I will be ready."

The Future of Sparta Prague's coach, Jozef Jarabinsky, still uncertain.

Although Sparta remain on top in the Czech football league it is still highly likely that the club will let go of their third coach in eight months. It is expected that Jozef Jarabinsky will be replaced later this week mainly due to the team's early exit from the UEFA cup in Turkey last week and the fact that the team failed to qualify for the Champions league. The Prague club has been warming up to former national team coach Josef Chovanec, however it remains unclear if he will take the job because he is currently under contract at Pribram, Pribram has said that it would release Mr. Chovance on one condition, a large sum of cash.

Both Pavel Nedved and Jan Koller score in Champions league action

Jan Koller delivered the killer blow in Dortmund's victory over Lokomotiv Moskva in the 1st leg of the second group stage action of the Champions league. Tomas Rosicky was the strongest player of the match, creating opportunities for both goals in their teams 2-1 victory. In other action, Pavel Nedved scored the final and equalising goal in Juventus's draw with Deportivo La Coruna.

Robert Reichel posts 5 points in his last two games.

And finally we cross the Atlantic to take a look at the NHL. Robert Reichel led the Toronto Maple leafs to a 5-4 victory in a shoot-out over the Washington Capitals earlier this week. The Czech centre has posted 5 points in his last two games. Both Robert Reichel and Tomas Kaberle added a goal and an assist while Czech star Jaromir Jagr was held off the score sheet. Jagr has had a slow start to the season as currently stands 18th in points with 24. Mario Lemieux continues to be on top of the NHL with a league leading 45 points.
