Some 750,000 tourists expected to visit Prague for Christmas and New Year

Around 750,000 tourists, including 150,000 Czechs, are expected in Prague during Advent, Christmas, and New Year’s, Prague City Tourism said on Thursday. Most foreign visitors will come from Germany, the UK, and Italy, marking a 5–10% increase from last December’s 710,000 visitors. About 100,000 will spend New Year’s Eve in the city.

In 2023, Prague hosted 7.4 million tourists, 92% of pre-COVID numbers. Most came from Germany (1.03 million), followed by Americans, Britons, and 1.59 million Czechs, a 7% annual increase. According to Prague City Tourism, the incoming tourists spent 40% more than in 2019.
