Škoda exports fall year-on-year over Covid and chip shortage

The Czech-based carmaker Škoda Auto exported 878,200 vehicles around the world in 2021, a year-on-year fall of 126,000. The fall-off has been attributed to the Covid crisis and a shortage of chips that caused Škoda Auto to halt production for periods last year.

Company representatives said that the situation surrounding the availability of semi-conductors should improve in the second half of 2022.

Škoda Auto is the Czech Republic’s largest exporter.
