Siniaková withdraws from Guangzhou tournament before second-round match

Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková has withdrawn from the Guangzhou tournament ahead of her second-round match.

The world’s top-ranked doubles player, who won her first singles title in three years in Osaka on Sunday,  appeared tired in her opening match in Guangzhou on Wednesday after travelling from Japan, but still defeated Thailand’s Lanlana Tararudee, the tournament’s third seed, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

During the match, she requested medical attention several times for problems with her shoulder and neck.
