Siniaková aims for third Australian Open doubles title
Kateřina Siniaková is set to compete for her third Australian Open doubles title. In the semifinals, she and partner Taylor Townsend defeated Russia’s Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaiderova 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. They will face the tournament’s third seeds, Xie Shuwei of Taiwan and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia, who overcame Gabriela Dabrowska and Erin Routliffe 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.
Siniaková, who is 28, is aiming for her 10th Grand Slam doubles title. She and Townsend, the top seeds in Melbourne, previously won Wimbledon together last year. This marks Siniaková’s fourth Australian Open doubles final. She won in 2022 and 2023 with Barbora Krejčíková and reached the semifinals last year with Storm Hunter.
